We are still reveling in the wonderful day we had, and the FANTASTIC reception that was so successful because of your musical talents. One person said after it was all over, "I've NEVER seen so many people on a dance floor at a wedding"!!! Of course it was because of the songs themselves, AND the way they were performed. 12/19/2008 ~ The Union League Dear Charles, When we first made inquiries across our network about a band for our reception, the name the Vincent James Band came up as an almost mythical entity. You have to check them out,� people who had heard you at other events implored. You will never hear another band with their level of quality and versatility, they claimed. And so we tracked you down, and contacted you. You quickly responded with a level of professionalism that we soon found to be the consistent way that you operated from a management perspective. You encouraged us to attend a showcase to see firsthand what made the Vincent James Band unique. Minutes into the showcase, we knew we had found our band. By the end of that showcase, we were impatient for the time to pass so that we could enjoy you with our friends at the reception. On that special evening last week, not only did you not disappoint, but you exceeded all expectations. Time passed too quickly that evening. "Where did you find them", our guests asked. "They are unbelievable", many enthused. But, perhaps the greatest complement was that we saw some of our guests getting up to dance again and again who we never see dance. And few left early until the very last song. You are noteworthy and memorable and we will always appreciate the 110% you gave us that night. 11/22/2008 ~ The William Penn Inn Dear Charles, What can I say? You told me that the band would make the difference, and that our guests would be dancing from the first song, and how experienced and professional the VJB is. We have received daily and constant positive input, and compliments on the band. I will give excellent references for you personally, and for the band. You are the easiest manager to speak and deal with as well as having a lot of knowledge and experience. The band was amazing. We will have many wonderful memories of the wedding, and I can thank YOU for that. Some of our guests have written us notes, and many have called. It has been two weeks, and the women I work with are still speaking of the band and the wonderful time they had. Honestly, with all the decisions a wedding requires on almost a daily basis for over a year, we all feel that the best decision we made regarding this wedding was to have the VJB. I am actually boasting, and have a sense of pride that we had such exceptional band. I don't think I have ever said in my entire life that I have been completely satisfied with any one thing. Well, I am saying it now, the performance was better than any expectation I may of had. Just sorry I don't have any other daughters. 11/1/2008 ~ Ballroom at the Ben Dear Charles, You know how many hours we talked on the phone (before we hired VJB) discussing what Bob and I were looking for in a band for our daugther's wedding; I did contact multiple client references (by email) and received multiple rave responses and then Barrie & Rob and Bob went to your showcase in Aug. 07 and were officially convinced and "blown away"... VJB was the band for us !! and over the next year you helped us plan the music and set the tone for the wedding of their dreams. The big night came and you did not let us down !!! The music which filled the room was fabulous ~ magnigicent vocals and expert musical quality!! The song selections were perfect which kept the dance floor packed. Time sure flies when you're having fun ... it was 12:30 a.m. and we were all still dancing, and when the music stopped we wanted more !!! 10/18/2008 ~ Yale Club of New York City Dear Charles and Maureen, When we began to plan Rebecca and Eric's wedding, we were having a very difficult time finding a band that we liked. As a pianist myself, with a family of musicians and music lovers, along with a guest list of people we knew loved to dance, we were extremely picky about the music for the evening. It was then that one of Rebecca's bridesmaids heard you play at a wedding in New Jersey and told Rebecca, "You HAVE to hire this band. They are the best I have ever heard!" We arranged a visit to one of your showcases, and within 20 seconds of hearing you, we knew we had found the perfect band for the occasion. Our search had ended! You were such a pleasure to work with all along the way. We enjoyed our pre-wedding phone conversations and in-person meeting, and found that you knew just the right thing to say if one of us had a question or concern. On the night of the wedding, the music exceeded even our highest expectations! Every arrangement and performance of every song was perfect and sounded like the original recordings! We had a crowded dance floor all night and our guests all commented that they had never heard such a great band before. Each band member has an amazing voice as well as being able to perform in many styles on many different instruments. Maureen was a lovely and elegant M.C in addition to singing so beautifully. We were all so impressed with the quality of the music. We were wondering just how you were going to get the crowd going again after dinner, but everyone got on the dance floor with just as much energy, if not more, and danced until the last song of the evening. You all did a fantastic job from the guitarist during cocktail hour until the very last song of the evening was played. We have never seen a dance floor so packed for the ENTIRE evening! I always knew that a band can make or break an evening and you've proven to work magic! Our wedding was absolutely flawless...While I await our video to truly experience the music played during our ceremony, so many of our guests commented on the elegance of the classical trio. Bravo! Every moment thereon was a note played forever into my memory. I will especially remember "The Prayer" performed in lieu of our blessing. 9/21/2007 ~ Flander's Hotel - Ocean City, NJ Charles, My apology for taking so long to write this. The past couple of weeks have been a blur. We went from the wedding, to Brazil, to a sailboat trip, and have finally landed home for a while. As expected, your band did a fantastic job. The smile on Aud's face is something I will remember forever. I did not get to hear any of the cocktail music. But your "piano man" got great scores from my spies. And his taking time to chat with a couple of young wannabes was really appreciated. Music at the house went well also. I did get to hear some of that, but I must admit my focus was more on not tripping on Aud's dress or the bulkhead! We wanted this to be not just a celebration, but also a party where folks could just have fun with the B&G. The key is the music, and your folks excelled. Song selection was perfect all night. I trusted you when you said to, and you sure did not let us down. I knew you had to be special when you hired my man Gerry Norwood, but you even exceeded our high expectations. We were totally pleased, and there were some aspects that exceeded our expectations. Your band was one, as it did a fantastic job of meeting our needs- providing excellent music for the wedding ceremony, cocktail reception, the dinner, and the party itself throughout the hottest day of the summer. I know there were extra challenges with the sound requirements of Appleford and the HOT, HOT temperatures. But I thought the music was PERFECT!! I wanted to dance my heart out, and that was easy to do with your band. Many guests seemed to feel the same way, I can't tell you how many people came up to me to praise the band. Given the heat of the day, it was wonderful that your band lifted us beyond the care of the weather. Your professional skills, and the class manner in which you interacted with us and our guest was simply outstanding. The musicians set up for the day without problem, performed beautifully at each event, and then led to an energetic and joyful finale to the evening which exceeded our dreams. We enjoyed all your music from the ceremony through to the last song you played. Our thoughts that your talents were spectacular were only confirmed by the many guests who exclaimed the same enthusiasm. Many said you were the best band they ever heard (which is a rave from jaded New Yorkers!!!) 1/6/2007 ~ Baldwin School Hi Jane, The Vincent James Band was truly great. We contacted them just a few weeks before Sofie's Bat Mitzvah. We had booked a DJ at our daughter's insistence, but a good friend of mine heard the band at a party and said I had to give them a call. Our date was right after new years, and they had it available. Charles was so easy to work with, always attentive and available. His wife has a lovely way about her, and an amazing voice. Almost all the band members are vocalists, so the sound was so large. Cortez worked with the kids during the cocktail hour, while a classical guitarist played for the adults. We gave Cortez a list of songs Sofie and her friends liked, and he put together a CD of the songs to play during the cocktail hour. The band also knew lots of songs that the kids like. But the kids really loved some of the older tunes---Motown, September (Earth Wind and Fire), Love Train, etc. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. I even gave my friend and her boyfriend your business card because they want you to play for their wedding. (They are not even engaged yet.) I remember when I was planning the reception and I wanted a DJ, but my parents insisted on a band. I am glad I listened to them. Three months prior to my wedding my friend got married. She had a DJ and the dance floor was empty. You kept my dance floor packed due to your spectacular playing and your wonderful stage presence. Every song you played sounded like the real artists were present (Louis Armstrong, Andrea Bocelli/Sarah Brightman, and Dave Matthews to name a few). A member of the country club asked how we were able to book Andrea Bocelli. We can't say enough about VJB. I guess the one complaint I have for VJB is that you made my reception fly by because you were AWESOME!!!! When we had you play for Meghan and Adam's wedding reception in October of 2000, we were delighted beyond words. When it came time to plan for Meredith and Jonathan's wedding reception this past December 17th, there was no question as to who we wanted to be the entertainment. Bruce and I have received so many calls over the past week from our family and guests who have allowed us to re-live the wedding over and over. Now it's time to share some of that with you. You promised me ahead of time that I had nothing to worry about- the reception would meet our expectations and not need my attention. How true your words were, Charles. Of course, by the time the party began I was ready to put the entire affair into your hands and that of our caterer. The two of you put together a flawless affair. Everything seemed to flow smoothly and my guests loved every detail. Above all else, the music was the driving force of the party. From our perspective, your band was incredible- from the first notes of the ceremony through to the end. In the words of those who have spoken to me since the affair: "The band was great just to sit and listen to." "I don't know what got into me. I just couldn't stop dancing!" (My 88-year-old mother) "The flow of the evening was perfect." "The band had an amazing range of music." "Even the contemporary music had a beat I could dance to." Charles, I could go on but it gets repetitive. Never was I so sure of a decision as when I picked your band. And, as I knew would be the case, you fulfilled my family's high expectations. I know I stressed about things unnecessarily, but maybe that's what makes the result so especially sweet. Please share my sentiments with your band members, all of whom wowed our guests. I stumbled across your rendition of The Prayer on my computer and the memory brought tears to my eyes. We cannot tell you how many people have approached us to say what a wonderful band you were and what a wonderful time they had. Our goal going into the wedding was to have everyone out on the dance floor and for everyone to say they had fun. You sure accomplished that. Prior to our wedding, we had not had the opportunity to see your band play live as we were planning our wedding from a distance. When we were in search of a band to play at our wedding we spoke to several bands in the area and listened to several sample CD's. We chose VJB mostly based on your sample DVD and CD along with the fact that you came highly recommended from our reception site, Aronimink Golf Club. Your CD was above and beyond the best that we had heard.
